International Trademark Registration

Β

Protect your brand beyond the UK β€” across the EU, US and worldwide.

Trademarks are territorial. A UK registration protects you in the UK alone. If you trade internationally, sell online to overseas customers, or are planning to expand, you need protection in the markets that matter to your business. The sooner you act, the stronger your position β€” and the less likely you are to find your brand blocked or already taken in a key market.

Β

How International Trademark Registration Works

There is no single worldwide trademark β€” protection must be secured country by country, or through regional systems that cover multiple territories at once. The main routes are:

  • UK trademark β€” covers the United Kingdom only
  • EU trademark (EUTM) β€” a single application covering all 27 EU member states
  • Madrid Protocol β€” an international system administered by WIPO that allows you to file a single application covering up to 130 countries
  • Direct national applications β€” for countries outside the Madrid system, or where local filing is the stronger option

Our Approach

We assess your business plans and advise on the most cost-effective strategy for your situation β€” whether that means a single EU filing, a Madrid Protocol application, or a combination of routes. We work with trusted local agents in countries where direct filing is required, and we manage the entire process on your behalf including deadlines, renewals and any objections that arise along the way.

Β

Timing Matters

Once your UK or EU application is filed, you have six months to extend protection to other countries while retaining your original filing date as priority. We will advise you on this window and make sure you do not miss it.
